Creech activates 432nd Mission Support Group

Col. Stephen Jones, 432nd Wing/432nd Air Expeditionary Wing commander, officiated the historic standup of the wing’s Mission Support Group during an installation command assumption ceremony, July 11, 2019. At the event, Nellis Air Force Base leadership deactivated the 799th Air Base Group, and Creech leadership activated the 432nd MSG in its place.

Creech Showcases RPA enterprise to AFCENT leadership

Lt. Gen. Joseph Guastella, U.S. Air Forces Central Command commander, and Chief Master Sgt. Shawn Drinkard, AFCENT command chief, visited Creech Air Force Base, Nevada, Jan. 16, 2019. Guastella and Drinkard visited different operational flying squadrons on base and the Persistent Attack and Reconnaissance Operations Center to get a hands-on look at how combat Remotely Piloted Aircraft missions are executed while also interacting with the Airmen who support them. Drinkard experienced what it’s like to fly a MQ-9 Reaper in a simulated environment, learning from experienced Airmen how they execute missions.

Disturbed, USO get Creech ‘down with sickness’

The USO brought heavy-metal band Disturbed to Creech to meet the Airmen behind the Remotely Piloted Aircraft mission and perform the base’s first-ever concert Oct. 23, 2018. “The music is meant to empower,” said David Draiman, lead vocalist of Disturbed. “It’s meant to strengthen people; it’s meant to strip away fear and to give you the gumption you need to triumph over adversity.”

Phantom of Takur Ghar: The Predator above Roberts Ridge

A once quiet landscape turned battlefield, the clash of gunfire and shouts ripped through the Shahi-Kot Valley in the early hours of March 4, 2002. As part of an early war effort that targeted al Qaeda and Taliban forces in Afghanistan, the Battle of Roberts Ridge is still known as one of the deadliest engagements during Operation Anaconda. Above the Takur Ghar mountain top, an MQ-1 Predator aircrew became an unforeseen, close air support asset for a desperate joint special operations team in their time of need.

Today, Chaplain Matthew uses knowledge acquired over a 25-year military career serving in multiple specialties throughout different branches of service to counsel and assist combat Airmen.

A family legacy: 65 years in the making

As he rolled open his desk drawer to reveal a military patch once worn by his father, Maj. Phillip’s gaze lingered on the 432nd Tactical Fighter Wing emblem in his grasp. His eyes seemed to search for the memories woven between the black and maroon threads before setting it down next to his keyboard. Many families connect through movie nights, snacking on popcorn, rooting for their favorite sports team or singing those ‘80s classics, but this Major’s family founded a tradition within the years they dedicated to the U.S. Air Force.

Creech AFB makes strides against sexual assault

Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month is a military and civilian observance that takes place during April with the goal to eliminate sexual assault within the armed forces. In line with the 432nd Wing/432nd Air Expeditionary Wing’s priority to support the Hunter family, the base participates in campaigns such as SAAPM to ensure the well-being of service members and their families while contributing to a safer future.

MQ-9 Reaper makes 2018 debut at Columbus Air and Space Expo

The MQ-9 Reaper display made its debut for the 2018 season at the Wings Over Columbus Air and Space Expo April 21, at Columbus Air Force Base, Miss. Aircrew, intelligence and maintenance Airmen from the 432nd Wing/432nd Air Expeditionary Wing briefed attendees in the MQ-9 display area and communicated the capabilities of the aircraft, explained the 432nd’s mission and addressed any misinformation regarding the Remotely Piloted Aircraft enterprise.
