Narcotics are the one element in today's society that not only destroys the individuals that are utilizing and/or selling the substance, but entire families and communities. Drug use is far from a victimless crime. Drug-affected military and civilian personnel who are responsible for operating aircraft, weapons or machinery--or expecting to perform in a safety capacity for others--risk harming many lives, not just their own. Profits from the drug trade also fund a significant portion of the Taliban's insurgent operations against US and coalition forces in Afghanistan. It is imperative that we as an Air Force community eliminate drugs and maintain a safer place to live, work, and raise a family.

The OSI Narcotics Squad is primarily responsible for investigating all military-related narcotics activity in southern Nevada. The squad's focus is to target drug suppliers and dealers and arrest them for criminal prosecution. OSI works jointly with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and other law enforcement agencies to infiltrate the drug community. With the help of Airmen, DoD civilians, contractors, and their family members, OSI attempts to seek out and limit the illegal flow of narcotics onto Nellis and Creech AFBs. OSI depends heavily on members of the Air Force community to supply us with the necessary information to neutralize illegal narcotics activity.

Have you ever overheard someone talk about using ecstasy? Have you ever witnessed someone sell their prescription medication? Have you seen drug paraphernalia? Do you know or suspect someone of selling or using narcotics? Do you know of someone in possession of illegal drugs right now? Anyone with this type of information is encouraged to contact the OSI Narcotics Tip Line at 652-NARC (6272). Be sure to include as much information as possible--i.e. names, the location of the activity, what was observed, drugs involved, a description of any vehicles (license plate numbers) or people involved, date(s) of the occurrence, phone numbers and addresses of people involved. Remember, this information is not limited to active duty members, but can include civilians on- or off-base involved with illegal narcotics and our military community. All information given to the narcotics squad will be kept confidential. Tipsters may remain anonymous or may leave their name and phone number for follow-up by OSI. Messages left on the tip line will be checked daily.
