11/13/2009 - CREECH AFB, Nev. -- Creech Air Force Base recently gained new infrastructure when the new base fitness center and Aerospace Ground Equipment buildings held grand opening ceremonies during the month of November.
The 3,500 square-foot fitness center and 8,000 square-foot AGE building took approximately 5 months and 13 months to complete respectively. According to senior leadership here, the new buildings are a true testament to the combined efforts of the hard-working Airmen of Creech.
"Both buildings are the result of many individuals who have worked tirelessly and I applaud them for their efforts," said Colonel Pete Gersten, 432d Wing and 432d Air Expeditionary Wing commander. "Leadership remains committed to improving quality of life and ensuring Airmen have access to the proper resources to accomplish the mission. The new fitness center will help ensure our Airmen are 'fit to fight,' and the new AGE facility will be able to facilitate the growing demands of our mission."
The hours of operation of the Creech Fitness Center are 6 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. "Airmen assigned to Creech can find a variety of equipment for their use within the facility," said Master Sergeant Ronnell Ramos, 99th Force Support Squadron OL-A Sustainment Superintendent.
"We offer the top-of-the-line fitness equipment," Sergeant Ramos said. "We have everything they need to be 'fit to fight.'"
The new fitness center equipment consists of eight treadmills, 10 ellipticals, three upright bikes, two recumbent bikes, 17 weight machines that cover every muscle group, a power rack and smith machine as well as several free-weight benches and dumbbells that range from five to 130 pounds.
Sergeant Ramos said that eventually the fitness center will begin to hold special events such as 'fun runs,' and offer work out incentive programs such as the 'Jog Club.'
Along with the new fitness center improving the quality of life here, a new AGE building is now in use.
"The AGE facility was designed exclusively for our mechanics from start to finish. The new facility includes a large maintenance bay, large concrete surface all around the facility, covered work areas with lighting, power, water, and compressed air," said Master Sergeant Michael Chesnutt, 432d Maintenance Squadron AGE flight chief.
Sergeant Chesnutt said the biggest impact of the new facility is space.
"The new facility is 4,000 square-feet larger than the old facility," Sergeant Chesnutt said. "This new facility will allow us to better inspect and maintain Predator and Reaper support equipment."
The new AGE facility is now occupied by more than 20 personnel and houses more than 500 pieces of equipment that support the MQ-1B Predator and MQ-9 Reaper aircraft.
