Creech AFB hosts job fair Published June 17, 2011 By 432nd Wing 432nd Air Expeditionary Wing Public Affairs CREECH AIR FORCE BASE, Nev. -- The Creech Airman and Family Readiness Center hosted a job fair June 9 for Hunter personnel that are retiring or separating from Active Duty. The job fair featured a number of civilian employers that focused mainly on Creech contractors. "Most of the companies that come to Creech are looking for the exact specialized skills and expertise that our folks already have," said Martha, a Creech A&FRC representative. "We invite contractors who are already at Creech and we also have gotten some 'outsiders' who have also asked to be included." After a job fair, A&FRC members ask the employers if they have offered jobs to Hunter personnel and the response has been very positive due to the specialized job skills and quality of Airmen at Creech. "At the last job fair, one company said they'd made offers to four individuals and the folks who are hired come back and tell me they get multiple offers," Martha said. "With the high unemployment rates we have, this is surely a help to the about-to-be-ex military who's looking for work." Job fairs are part of the transition program that assists military members in their transition from military to civilian life, giving them an opportunity to meet and talk with employers and apply for jobs that are within their area of expertise. "We encourage them to come to the job fair with a resume, and we frequently hear it from the employers that they wish more would do this," Martha said. "We also do resume classes well in advance of the job fair so they can meet this requirement." In between times, contractors are encouraged to send job announcements and the A&FRC posts them for Hunter personnel to view and look through. The Creech A&FRC currently holds four job fairs a year with two more scheduled for Sept. 8 and Dec. 8. For more information on Creech job fairs, call the A&FRC at 404-0864.
